Stacey Smith Yoga Instructor

I'm an enthusiastic RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) driven by a deep desire to guide individuals on their journey towards mental and physical healing through yoga. My journey began with the completion of my 200-hour certification from the Himalayan Yoga Institute in 2018.

 

My yoga voyage began in 2014 as I started on a quest for self-love and inner healing following a diagnosis of severe anxiety and depression. It was during this time that I was introduced to the power of rhythmic breathing, a practice that significantly aided me in managing my anxiety. From here, I started my yoga journey from the comfort of my own home, and it was then that I truly began to experience profound healing. My own transformative encounter with yoga's therapeutic attributes served as the driving force behind my decision to become a certified yoga instructor, enabling me to support others on their individual paths to healing.

In November 2017, I successfully completed my training to become a children's yoga teacher through Kidding Around Yoga, commonly referred to as KAY. In October 2018, I attained my certification as a Y12SR instructor (Yoga 12 Step Recovery). This program, developed by Nikki Meyers, seamlessly integrates the principles of the 12-step program with the practice of yoga. It offers a holistic approach to address addiction's challenges, combining the somatic elements of yoga with the cognitive facets of the 12 steps, promoting healing in physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions.

 

In 2018, I transformed a small room in my home into a yoga studio, and this marked the inception of The Yoga Room. I began by offering yoga classes to friends in this intimate space. As my passion for sharing yoga grew, I reached out to local businesses to collaborate and provide affordable yoga sessions to the wider community.

I offer a selection of yoga classes like Hatha yoga, restorative yoga, chair yoga, children's yoga and GLOWGA.  I enjoy teaching hatha yoga, a gentle practice that can build self-awareness, because this form of yoga offers a range of pose modifications to accommodate practitioners of diverse abilities.  Please feel free to contact Stacey with any questions using the contact form below.
