In my own personal practice of 10 years one of the biggest releases was expectation!
I wanted my practice to LOOK perfect. I felt if my pose didn't look like the teacher's pose or a fellow student's pose that I wasn't enough. Ego typically plays a huge roll in this expectation as well.
So, how can we work on releasing this? By tuning in to our own body and we do that by noticing, feeling, connecting. Create self awareness on how we feel in the pose as opposed to how we look! Honoring the body.
Some days or all days we may feel tight, we may be unrested, dehydrated and or stressed. These can and will all play a role in our daily practice. And what many don't take into consideration is that our bodies may never do what's expected due to anatomy! Yes that's right our body's make up may prevent us from certain poses!
If it's not anatomy perhaps it's prior injury or arthritis that's preventing this so called perfect practice. The perfect practice is getting to your mat consistently, honoring how the body feels and allowing the body to lead the way!
Now grab your mat and find a moment of gratitude for where you are right now in these ever changing times.
