Did you know your feet have 33 joints, 26 bones and more than 100 muscles, ligaments and tendons?!
How frequently do you consider your feet? Is it primarily when they're in pain? What measures can be taken to care for your feet or to be preventative in foot care?
Personally, I've experienced foot problems largely due to my choice of footwear. It's essential for feet to have the freedom to move, stretch, and be free from constrictive footwear.
So what I have been doing is toe yoga! Yes it's a thing and an important one. Stretching the plantar of the foot even into the calves to keep everything fluid and open is very beneficial and can alleviate tightness and discomfort. Curling toes under and flexing the feet can create space in the top of the foot as well as the bottom of the foot. Pilates bands have been a huge tool in my practice to stretch and create space between the toes as well as yogatoes. Yogatoes are one piece silicone toe separators designed to spread the toes. I have found many pages on Instagram to be helpful in creating a practice for my feet that works specifically for my needs here are a few of the accounts I use:

In my own personal experience I have avoided a few surgeries and found ways to care for my feet and lessen pain and discomfort by creating a consistent care plan I can do at home. This will definitely take time and patience, don't give up and keep at your practice!
Here's to wiggly toes and happy feet!
