Do you ever CRAVE a hug? Not one of those "side hugs"! A real "bring it in close" type of hug! The reason you may crave one is because hugs release a hormone in the body called Oxytocin... it makes you feel good. Oxytocin is known as the "LOVE drug". I always remember Oxytocin as XO (hug/kiss).
Next time you hug someone you care about hold that hug a little longer... 22 seconds to be exact, that's how long it takes to release the hormone. It may feel a little weird at first but after a few of these you'll be craving more.
I remember the first time a yoga friend hugged me this way. As I went to pull away from this hug, that felt like she was holding me for an eternity, she pulled me closer and said 22 seconds, that's how long this hug is. I'll never forget that hug and believe me no "side hug" ever felt the same again because of it.
Now go grab someone you care about and count to 22 as you hug them.
