THE YOGA ROOM - how it was born

Writer's picture: Stacey Smith Stacey Smith

It all began in 2014. My daughter had moved out and I had a "spare room". I started practicing yoga there. I added yoga props and decorated the space for calm vibes. Anytime I practiced yoga I would say to my family, "I'll be in The Yoga Room" doing yoga and that's how THE YOGA ROOM was born!

In 2018 when I finished my 200 hour yoga certification, I moved into this smaller space called The Yoga Room and it became my bedroom. I then transferred all my yoga things into a bigger bedroom, 12' x 17' to be exact, and created the business DBA or Doing Business As... THE YOGA ROOM!

This space or THE YOGA ROOM can comfortably hold 5 of us to practice yoga. It has everything a practitioner needs to do yoga. Many times I have had students say "I would rather practice in The Yoga Room studio". I think smaller classes can make people feel more at ease and for me, as an instructor, I prefer that small class intimate connection where we can connect energetically and focus on the practice.

The picture above was taken where it all began in late 2014. My daughter had it blown up and put on canvas for me for Valentine's Day 2015. Pictured is my daughter, her son Elijah (who's almost 10), my son and myself. It hangs in THE YOGA ROOM to this day!

Come check it out and let me know how a smaller studio makes you feel.
